Today, we will be looking at our Small Sardines to have a protein-filled mid-day snack or party appetizer that is crisp and tangy!

How much protein is in small sardines?

La Barca small sardines have 980mg of Omega 3 Fatty Acids and are a good source of protein. These sardines have 15g of protein which make them a perfect snack to add some protein during your day.

Can you eat sardines right out of the can?

Yes! You can eat La Barca sardines straight out of the can without having to cook them. They have a great flavor right out of the tin with them being submerged in rich olive oil.

What you will need:

How to make Small Sardine Tapas:

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F. Begin with slicing your bread into 1 cm - 1½ cm thick slices.
  2. In a bowl, mix a small amount of olive oil and the minced garlic. Then, brush on the mixture on the bread slices.
  3. On a baking sheet, place your slices of bread and put the sheet in the oven.
  4. While the bread toasts, in a pan on medium heat, place the small sardines with its olive oil to quickly heat up.
  5. Once the sardines are heated through, remove the pan from the heat.
  6. When the toast is ready, begin to plate. Place a few sardines on each piece of toast.
  7. Then, grab your lemon and zest it and squeeze some drops of lemon juice to add some tanginess to the sardines. 
  8. Garnish with parsley, season with pepper, and enjoy!
